Join the DeSoto Rifle & Pistol Club

The DeSoto Rifle & Pistol Club range complex near Como in Panola County is Northwest Mississippi’s first choice for a safe place to experience the joy of the shooting sports.  We have facilities available for shooters of all skill levels and passions. Please view the information below to learn more about joining the DeSoto Rifle & Pistol Club.

Joining the DeSoto Rifle & Pistol Club is easy and affordable.  Annual memberships are priced to be affordable and our associate memberships offer the chance to add additional family members for as associate members at a low price.  Associate members must be claimed on your tax returns, and DeSoto Rifle & Pistol Club may require you to furnish proof.

Get a Complimentary Range Tour

We encourage all prospective members and interested persons to come to the range any Saturday or Sunday (weather permitting) and see the Range Safety Officer (RSO) to get a complimentary tour of the range facilities and have questions answered.  There is no staff available at the range Monday – Friday.

Please note that new member orientations, including range tours, only occur Saturday at 9:00 AM and Sunday at 2:00 PM so that the RSO can otherwise be attentive to the safety and operational needs of the range facilities.

Upon your arrival at the range, please proceed into the range facility and seek out the RSO, who will be wearing an orange vest.  The RSO will be able to help you learn more about DeSoto Rifle & Pistol Club so you can decide if membership is right for you and your family.  If you should happen to arrive at the range and the gate is still closed and locked, then an RSO is unfortunately not on duty at the time.  As a member in good standing of DeSoto Rifle & Pistol Club, the Club is available for your usage 365 days / year, sunup to sundown (weather permitting).

Membership Application Process

Please select the option below that suits you best.  You’ll find all the information you need join DR&PC within.

Option One: Pay Online, then visit the range for safety orientation and membership cards

  1. Download and print the membership application. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader or similar software to open the application form.
  2. Complete the top and bottom section of the membership application, skipping the middle (payment) section.
  3. Pay your membership dues on this page. (New members onlyrenewal dues are paid from this page.)
  4. Print a copy of your receipt from PayPal and attach it your membership application with the top portion completed.
  5. Take the application and PayPal receipt to the range on Saturday or Sunday (as noted above) and submit to the on-site Range Safety Officer.
  6. Complete the mandatory range and safety orientation with the on-site Range Safety Officer.
  7. Membership cards will be provided on-site at the completion of the safety orientation.

Option Two: Pay at the range, then get the safety orientation and obtain membership cards

  1. Download and print the membership application. You will need Adobe Acrobat Reader or similar software to open the application form.
  2. Determine your total amount due: membership dues, associate membership dues, range improvement assessment, one-time initiation fee.
  3. Complete the membership application.
  4. Take the completed application and payment to the range on Saturday or Sunday (as noted above) and submit to the on-site Range Safety Officer. We can only accept cash or checks at the range.
  5. Complete the mandatory range and safety orientation with the on-site Range Safety Officer.
  6. Membership cards will be provided on-site at the completion of the safety orientation.

Requirements to join the DeSoto Rifle & Pistol Club

As per the Desoto Rifle & Pistol Club Bylaws, Article III, Section 1:

Memberships are open to any citizen or permanent legal resident of the United States who meets the following conditions:

  1. Is at least 18 years of age as of the date of application for membership, except for children living in the home as “associate members”.
  2. Has paid all required membership dues/fees.
  3. Application is not rejected by a two-thirds vote of the Executive Committee.
  4. Is not a fugitive from justice.
  5. Is not disqualified to possess or own a firearm based on federal law.
  6. Has not been committed to a mental institution or mental health treatment facility without appropriate documentation stating that the applicant is free of disability for the last 5 years.
  7. Is not otherwise ineligible to possess a firearm due to felony convictions in any state or by the United States federal code.
  8. Does not abuse controlled substances.
  9. Does not abuse alcoholic beverages.
  10. Has not been adjudicated mentally incompetent within the last 5 years.
  11. Has not had adjudication of guilt withheld or a sentence suspended on any felony within the last 3 years.
  12. Is not a member of any organization or group having as its purpose or one of its purposes to overthrow the government of the United States, or any of its political subdivisions.

Membership Options

As per the Desoto Rifle & Pistol Club Bylaws, Article III, Section 3:

  • Annual:  An individual who has met the requirements of Article III, Section 1 and pays member dues on an annual basis.  Individual memberships are Voting.
  • Associate:  A member of the immediate family of an Individual member who has met the requirements of Article III, Section 1 and pays associate member dues on an annual basis.  Associate memberships are Non-Voting. Associate members are:  Spouses, or Children who are less than 18 years of age, or adult children claimed as a dependent on the Individual member’s tax returns.
  • Life:  An individual who has met the requirements of Article III, Section 1 and has made a one-time payment of dues that lasts for all of his or her natural life thereafter.  Life memberships are Voting.
  • Active Military / Law Enforcement: An individual currently serving in full time active duty status to a United States Military branch, including Reserve and National Guard, or full time active duty status to a state, county or city law enforcement agency. Law Enforcement must have powers of arrest to qualify.  Inactive Researve or Guard do not qualify.  These memberships are Non-Voting. This individual must meet the requirements of Article III, Section 1, complete an application, provide proof of status and complete the range safety orientation. Annual renewal of this membership is dependent on proof of full time active duty / law enforcement status.

April 1, 2016 – March 31, 2017 Membership Costs

  • Life Membership:  $2,000 (one-time)
  • Annual:  $175.00 (pro-rated after April 15, 2015 as shown below)
    • All new Annual members will also be assessed a one-time $150.00 initiation fee.
    • Total joining cost:  $325.00 (or less, as Annual dues are pro-rated as shown below)
  • Associate:  $25.00 (per associate, not pro-rated)
  • Active Military / Law Enforcement:  $50.00 (not pro-rated) provided current valid proof of eligibility is provided that does not expire during the membership period.  All Active Military / Law Enforcement renewals will also be at this rate.  Please note that Active Military / Law Enforcement members may not have Associate members, a full-price Annual membership will be required to have Associate members.

2017-2018 Annual Membership Pro-Rated Amounts

Your first year’s membership dues will depend on when you join DeSoto Rifle & Pistol Club.

  • Join before April 15, 2017:  $175.00 (total first-year cost is $325.00)
  • Join on or after April 15, 2017:  $165.00 (total first-year cost is $315.00)
  • Join after May 15, 2017:  $155.00 (total first-year cost is $305.00)
  • Join after June 15, 2017:  $135.00 (total first-year cost is $285.00)
  • Join after July 15, 2017:  $125.00 (total first-year cost is $275.00)
  • Join after August 15, 2017:  $115.00 (total first-year cost is $265.00)
  • Join after September 15, 2017:  $95.00 (total first-year cost is $245.00)
  • Join after October 15, 2017:  $85.00 (total first-year cost is $235.00)
  • Join after November 15, 2017:  $75.00 (total first-year cost is $225.00)
  • Join after December 15, 2017:  $55.00 (total first-year cost is $205.00)
  • Join after January 15, 2018:  $45.00 (total first-year cost is $195.00)
  • Join after February 15, 2018:  $25.00 (total first-year cost is $175.00)
  • Join on or after March 15, 2018:  2016-2017 membership rates in effect (TBD)

Current annual members who do not renew their 2017-2018 annual membership by April 30, 2018 will be required to pay a new member initiation fee ($150).
